Unmatched Corrosion Resistance
VS Stainless Steel: In chloride ion (Cl⁻) environments (such as seawater, hydrochloric acid), stainless steel is prone to pitting and stress corrosion cracking. Titanium exhibits near-immune corrosion resistance in seawater, wet chlorine, hypochlorite, and most organic acids.
VS Copper Alloys: While copper-nickel alloys are seawater resistant, they are susceptible to ammonia and sulfide corrosion. Titanium has a smooth surface, resists marine fouling, and is non-toxic.
High Specific Strength
VS Carbon Steel: Titanium's density (~4.51 g/cm³) is only 57% of steel (~7.85 g/cm³), yet its strength is comparable to high-quality alloy steel. This allows for significant weight reduction in aerospace and high-end manufacturing.
